Cassidy Bacon is a Denver-based singer-songwriter, composer, vocalist, keyboardist, and multidisciplinary performing artist. Born in Fort Collins and trained in classical voice at the University of Northern Colorado, she is best known as the founder and creative force behind The Whimsy of Things. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor, and Hiatus Kaiyote, Cassidy creates music shaped by ethereal harmonies, playful arrangements, candid lyricism, and an abiding curiosity about the stranger corners of human experience.
Cassidy wrote the words and music for The Whimsy of Things’ self-titled 2019 debut and co-produced the record. In 2024, the band followed it with Gravity Dance, an album that grew from music developed for an immersive theatrical production. Her work increasingly moves between the concert stage and interdisciplinary performance, including collaborations incorporating circus, dance, storytelling, and original live music. She has also performed with Denver groups including Sinkra, the Other Black, and King Bee, and has appeared both with The Whimsy of Things and as a solo artist.
Whether creating intimate songs or expansive theatrical worlds, Cassidy approaches her work with emotional honesty, imagination, and a deep commitment to Denver’s collaborative arts community.
