Hand and Rod Monster Puppet Building

Join Puppeteer Katy Williams for a fun, hands-on class where you’ll design and create your very own monster hand puppet! We provide all materials, tools, and anything else you may need!
In this fabrication class, we’ll cover the basics of puppet design, how to use patterns, hand and machine sewing, and basic puppetry to bring your monster to life. By the end of the session, participants will take home their custom hand puppet. Our puppets will be hand and rod puppets, meaning they will go over your hand to speak, and will have an arm to be moved as well.
No experience is necessary, but if you're familiar with a sewing machine, you’ll have the chance to use it. And if not you will learn a very basic stitch. We'll be using a needle and thread, scissors, razor blades, and hot glue. If you have any accessibility needs, please inform me beforehand, and I'll do my best to accommodate.
